Nancy Maguire, ACS, PCS, FCS, HCS-D, CRT
Keynote Speaker
An experienced coding professional who helps coders make the critical coding decisions they encounter every day. Nancy has transitioned from nursing, to coding and practice management, to auditing and consulting. She served the first two terms as president of AAPC in the early 90’s. Nancy served as Director of Coding and Reimbursement at UTMB in Galveston Texas for four years. She has experience in writing for coding publications and conducting audio conferences and on-site coding presentations across the USA. Her experience includes on-site education for large facility practices and specialty groups. Nancy has collaborated with physicians to develop coding software and works with facilities to implement coding and billing policies and coding accuracy. Nancy has spent over twenty years as a teacher, coding bootcamp trainer and workshop leader. Today Nancy offers a wide range of auditing, consulting and educational programs and services – from individual consulting and auditing services, to seminars and keynote speeches. Regina Mixon Bates, IRO, TPA, CMC, CMIS, CMOM, CPC, CPC-I
Director of Associate Faculty Development
Regina Mixon Bates has been an Instructor for PMI since 2000. She is also CEO of The Physicians Practice S.O.S. Group Inc. and has over 20 years of medical management and education experience. Regina and her Atlanta-based company are approved through the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) as an Independent Review Organization (IRO). She is licensed as a Third Party Administrator (TPA) and holds certifications in medical practice management, physician practice coding and medical insurance billing.
Maxine Inman Collins, MBA, CPA, CMC, CMIS, CMOM
Conference Chair
Maxine has more than twenty years of experience in medical practice management, adult education and general business. She has taught courses at various levels, including teaching business communications and accounting at Midwestern State University in Texas. Maxine has extensive experience teaching essential coding and compliance skills to administrative and clinical personnel. She is a very knowledgeable and sought-after practice management consultant. Maxine has served as an administrator of a multi-specialty clinic, where she was responsible for all clinic operations including medical records, billing and collections, OSHA, HIPAA and Medicare compliance, and all accounting operations. Maxine holds a MBA in business from Midwestern State University, and is presently working toward a doctorate in Health Care Administration. She is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Medical Coder.
Cyril M. Hetsko, MD, Member, Board of Trustees, American Medical Association
Cyril M. "Kim" Hetsko, MD, is an internist from Madison, WI, with subspecialty interests in infectious disease and laboratory medicine. He has been a member of the AMA Board of Trustees since 2003. He was elected to a second term in 2007. A clinical professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Hetsko is also the chief medical officer for COLA, a clinical laboratory education, consultation, and accreditation organization in Columbia, MD.
Dan Finch, Director, Legislative Affairs, Texas Medical Association
Dan Finch is Director of Legislative Affairs for the Texas Medical Association in Austin. Prior to this he served 24 years as the Associate Director and Director of Public Affairs for the Harris County Medical Society in Houston.
Frank Ambriz, PA-C, MPAS, Chair and Program Director UTPAPA Program, Clinical Assistant Professor
Mr. Ambriz has been a practicing physician assistant for over 30 years. He currently teaches Health Management, Health Policy among other courses at the UTPA PA Program. In 1994 he was appointed by Governor Ann Richards to the Texas State Board of Medical Examiner Physician Assistant Board. During his six year term with the board he was chair of the Licensing committee for physician assistants.
Jerry Bridge, President, LifeWorks Education
Jerry Bridge is a nationally known practice management trainer, coach, and motivational speaker. An engaging and innovative trainer, he has more than two decades of experience training more than 40,000 health care providers, practice managers and administrative staff. Jerry’s expertise includes billing and collections, customer service, practice management, communication and mission statement development and implementation. He has developed an audio/visual training series of his most popular programs, and has authored several articles in national publications and newsletters. Jerry’s fun, humorous approach to learning has earned him high marks with audiences nationwide.
Rhonda Puder, CMC, CMIS, CMOM
A former Group Operations Manager, Rhonda has more than 25 years of experience in medical coding, billing, personnel and office management. Rhonda has worked for large insurance companies in medical payables, claims review and policy underwriting. She also has expertise in Medicare, Medicaid and Texas Workers' compensation. Her experience in the consulting field is diversified and includes medical start-up involving electronic billing, information systems, contract negotiation and new provider services. Rhonda's extensive knowledge in healthcare management and accounting makes her an excellent resource for specialty and general medical groups.
Audrey Coaxum, CHI, CMC, CMIS, CMOM
Audrey teaches medical office professionals across the country as a PMI faculty member. She is a Certified Healthcare Instructor with more than 15 years of well-rounded health care experience. and has conducted in-services and developed training programs and assessments on practice management and compliance. She has overseen the development and implementation of policy and procedures relating to practice management, risk management and compliance based on federal, state, NCQA, HIPAA and OSHA standards. She has served on Quality Assurance, Medical Management, Risk Management, Network Development, Utilization Review, Health Disparities Collaborative and Compliance Boards.
Linda D’Spain, CMPE, CMC, CMIS, CMOM
Linda D’Spain is a PMI faculty member with a range of experience in health care administration. represents a number of medical groups as a leader, manager and practice growth specialist. She is an accomplished presenter with more than 18 years in practice management. She has been instrumental in PMI’s program development and oversight She is a Board Certified Medical Practice Executive through the American College of Medical Practice Executives and is currently working toward her fellowship in Health Care Administration. She holds all three certifications through Practice Management Institute and conducts regular training for physicians and their staff across the country.
Lisa Asbell, RN
Lisa is a Registered Nurse and an Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist. Lisa is the President of Identity Theft Resolutions which is based in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She is a featured writer on the subject of Identity Theft and has trained more than 5,000 employees. Her company, Identity Theft Resolutions, has the only medical specific program in the U.S.
D.K. Everitt
Mr. Everitt is a Healthcare Compliance Officer, whose work includes assessing hundreds of medical facilities, implementing Corporate Integrity Agreements and OSHA compliance training. He has authored several compliance books and serves as president of The Compliance Division, L.L.C. He has spent the last 25 years developing and managing corporate compliance programs and shares his talents as an Adjunct Lecturer and Preceptor for Trinity University's Health Care Administration Graduate Studies department. He has shared his knowledge with participants at several of PMI’s conferences. Mr. Everitt also serves on PMI’s Contributing Editor, Board of Experts.
Robert Liles, JD
Robert is principal shareholder of Liles Parker, PLLC, a Washington DC law firm. His practice handles health care fraud defense and regulatory matters, representing health care providers in both civil and criminal proceedings. Before entering private practice, Robert served as Deputy Director for Legal Programs at the US Department of Justice, Executive Office for Unites States Attorneys. Prior to that he was their first National Health Care Fraud Coordinator. Mr. Liles has taught and lectured at more than 50 national conferences and seminars to DOJ prosecutors, investigators, auditors, and industry representatives on a variety of civil and criminal fraud and regulatory issues. He serves as faculty for the Georgetown University / National Institute of Trial Advocacy. He is a long-time contributor to PMI conferences and projects.
