MIPS and Quality Payment Programs Made Easy Webinar course

Dates: Two consecutive Wednesdays: August 23, and 30, 2017
Time: 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Central Time, or access the session recording and digital course manual for up to a year (available after recorded content has been uploaded to PMI’s Online Training Center the last week of August)
Fee: $199 per person. This Webinar Course is not included as part of the Total Access subscription.
Target Audience:Course content covers basic coding principles for medical office professionals responsible for accurate coding and billing in an outpatient healthcare setting.
Materials: Participants receive a digital course manual. Set as a Safe Sender in your email server.
CEUs: PMI certified professionals will earn 3 CEUs. A certificate is sent via email upon completion of the course. If you are seeking CEUs for other organizations, contact them for pre-approval and credit guidelines.

This webinar course will provide important physician reporting and reimbursement information for the new Quality Payment Programs (QPP) including the Merit-based Incentive Payment Systems (MIPS), and Alternative Payment Models (APMs).

Participants will learn:

  • how your data and metrics will drive the new payment models.
  • how the new quality measures are scored by comparison to national benchmarks.
  • how the government will use your data and its purpose for creating improved health outcomes.
  • the role of patient engagement and technology for reimbursement under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
  • strategies to assess and evaluate current communication processes among coders, clinicians, and providers, and identify gaps that could impact your reimbursement.

Your 2019 payment adjustment is calculated from 2017 performance reporting and practices must start collecting performance data by October 2 to be eligible. Dive into the new payment models and learn your team’s role in ensuring that measures are properly selected and reported. Your EHR may not be accurate. Learn how to cross-check your performance data before you report. If your practice has historically been a high performer under the MU, you may need to reevaluate performance status under MIPS.

  • Review of the proposed 2018 rule for the Quality Payment Program
  • Review of the CMS Quality Strategy and Advancing Care Information categories (formerly Meaningful Use).
  • New information on the Physician Compare website and the Five-Star Quality Rating System

    Class content is relevant for providers, office managers, consultants, and compliance officers working in a medical office.


    This is an intermediate-level course. Content assumes knowledge of medical office reimbursement.

    Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

    PMI CEU APPROVED Earn 3 PMI CEUs for attendance at this program. Practice Management Institute grants CEUs for its certified professionals based on total number of instructional hours (1 CEU per hour of classroom instruction). CEUs may be applied to annual recertification requirements, as directed in the certification renewal requirements for your credential(s).

    If you are seeking CEU credits for other certifications or organizations, please contact your organization for pre-approval and credit guidelines. A certificate of attendance will be provided.

    About the Presenter

    Pam has more than 20 years of medical practice management, coding, reimbursement and compliance experience. She has managed in medical practices ranging from single to multi-specialty groups, including ASC.
    She is an advocate of process improvement and maximizing and empowering your employees to bring about the "best practice” results for your organization.

    She received her Master’s in Management from University of Phoenix. She maintains memberships in professional organizations to support her continuing cycle of learning in the ever-changing healthcare industry. Prior to joining the PMI Instructor team she was an Adjunct Instructor
