The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently announced the release of modifications to the 2018 Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code set. Level II of the HCPCS is used primarily to identify products, supplies, and services not included in the CPT-4 codes, such as ambulance services and durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) when used outside a physician's office. This year's revision include:

  • 141 new codes
  • 11 new modifiers
  • 48 revised codes
  • 2 revised modifiers
  • 38 deleted codes
  • 2 deleted modifiers

In this webinar session, PMI faculty member Pam Joslin, will provide an overview of the application and process of the HCPCS and delve into the details of the code changes for the New Year. Attend this session to gain information needed to bill claims accurately and remain compliant in 2018.

  • 19 new J codes
  • 81 new G codes for quality reporting
  • deleted mammography G codes
  • several platelet codes removed from P & Q sections
  • Skin grafts changes in section Q
  • New Patient Relationship HCPCS Modifiers and Categories
  • Other New modifiers:
    • non-digital computed radiography technology
    • Medicare‚Äôs new coverage of diabetes prevention programs related to the OPPS reimbursement change for new appropriate use criteria
