EHRs feature tools to assign the level of service for the provider, but there are input procedures that must be followed in order to capture the correct level as substantiated by documentation. If the provider is not fluent on Documentation Guidelines, incorrect levels can easily be assigned by the EHR. How effective is your review process to ensure that claims are being billed out at the correct level that will hold up under an audit review? Address this issue before you receive a request for records for review from a carrier. Learn how to protect your practice from inadvertent improper billing.

This session will provide the important steps to take in your practice if you are using Electronic tools for computer determination of the level for an Evaluation and Management service to ensure that your physician/provider is billing out the correct level of care that would hold up under an audit review.

Presenter will discuss:

  • How to determine the correct level of service billed on the Federal health claim form to the insurer
  • Use and trustworthiness of technology when documenting from medical records
  • Review EHR records that may be encountered upon a ZPIC audit
  • Unravel the good and bad points of electronic medical records
