Proper Billing for Non-Physician Provider Services

Date:Tuesday, May 23, 2017
Time:12 noon to 1:30 p.m. Central Time
Course fee:$199
Presented by: Tom Stevens, CMC, CMIS, CMOM, CCS-P, CPC

Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

Billing for mid-level providers can be tricky. Tom Stevens will provide clarity and improve your confidence about being able to withstand the scrutiny of a government or other third-party payment audit of services provided by NPPs in your practice.

All documentation in the medical record must be specific to the patient and her/his situation at the time of the encounter. This webinar will cover the scope of practice for NPs, CNSs, and PAs and highlight the differences in billing patterns while providing clarity on guidelines for CMS and other third-party carriers. Expand your knowledge of these rules and avoid common NPP billing mistakes.

  • Address taking part or all of a previous note into a new note without updating the information specific to that encounter.
  • Review use of smart text/smart phrases, templates, auto-fill, auto-prompts, and copy/paste
  • Learn how over-documentation can be achieved through cloning and how it can come back to bite you.
  • Get the guidance you need to ensure that the documentation supports your claims

Participants will learn the difference between "incident to" and shared/split billing and the details of physician supervision requirements regarding non-physician extenders.
