OSHA Compliance Guidelines for the Medical Practice

New Revisions for the bloodborne pathogens compliance directive.

Learn the latest on the all new directive issued late by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. This will help further minimize serious health risks faced by workers exposed to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Among these serious risks are human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and hepatitis B and C.

This new directive, an update to the 1992 version, guides OSHA's compliance officers in enforcing the standard that covers occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and ensures consistent inspection procedures are followed.

Now you can learn the information the OSHA compliance officer has and enforces on multi-employer worksites, such as physicians and health care professionals in independent practices, and others.

You will learn the key NEW revisions including:

  • Annual Review of Exposure Control Plan
  • Engineering Controls and Work Practices
  • Multi-Employer Worksites Guidelines
  • Most recent CDC Guidelines for Hepatitis B
  • Requirements for Training and Education of Employees
  • Replacements and Updates to Appendices

"I'm from OSHA... show me your Exposure Control Plan!"

The Plan Must Include:

  • Exposure determination and identification of "at risk" employees
  • Exposure control methods
  • HBV Vaccine protocol
  • Post-exposure follow-up
  • Infectious waste disposal
  • Labeling
  • Housekeeping - infection control
  • Laundry precautions
  • Employee training: initial employment, yearly and PRN
