The Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM)® course is designed to prepare current and aspiring medical office managers to effectively lead the team and pass the CMOM certification exam.
Course Content
PMI's CMOM course covers details on all areas involved in healthcare practice administration including clinic operations, financial management, employment laws, revenue cycle management, staffing and administration, HIPAA, OSHA, and OIG compliance, plus information on risk sharing, the patient experience, current payment models, and quality reporting. Receive expert guidance on issues such as responding to an audit, emergency preparedness, workplace violence, harassment, discrimination, cyberthreats, and more. Prerequisites
This advanced-level certification course is designed for those with a minimum of one year's work experience in a medical practice. Students with less experience should consider completing fundamental training included in the CMOM Bundle. Take the Free Assessment to test your knowledge.
Live, Interactive Learning and Helpful Resources
Students participate remotely by attending live online classes. Virtual classroom participants are invited to engage with the instructor and their peers during these interactive class sessions. CMOM students gain 24/7 access to the recorded classes plus digital course materials. Remote instructor support is provided via email and ongoing instructor-led group study sessions. Virtual one-on-one mentoring appointments are also available.
Certification Exam Information
The initial certification examination fee is waived for 12 months. PMI's Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM)® exam is a three-hour, proctored, 100 question online test. A passing score of 70 percent or better is required to earn the CMOM credential. When a passing grade is not achieved on the initial exam attempt, the candidate may re-test for an additional fee following a 60-day waiting period.

About the Presenter
Jan Hailey MHL, CMC, CMCO, CMIS, CMOM, CMCA E/M
Jan Hailey has more than 30 years of experience in healthcare. She is proficient in administration, coding, and billing roles, and teaches medical office professionals around the country how to excel in their careers. Jan has also been instrumental in the development of PMI's Workforce Initiatives program.
Jan's affinity for teaching has helped countless healthcare providers and medical office professionals over the years. During her expansive career, she has served as Director of Quality for Saint Joseph Physician Network located in Mishawaka, IN, and Director of Care Management with Select Health Network, an entity of Saint Joseph Health System. As Care Management Director, Jan led the physician network and comprehensive interdisciplinary team across the health system working closely with providers, management, staff, community, and payers to develop strategies for process improvement, gap closures, and patient experience. She developed a documentation improvement program and a Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding education program to predict future healthcare utilization by accurately reporting patient complexity.
Prior to joining Saint Joseph, Jan was the Director of Quality, Coding, and Compliance for one of the largest health systems in Northern Indiana. She has a Master of Health Leadership and four professional certifications in office management, coding, insurance processing, and compliance. She is a member of WPS Government Health Administrators (Medicare) Provider Outreach and Advisory Group.
