John is Chairman of Buttaci Leardi & Werner LLC in Princeton, New Jersey. His firm represents a diverse range of individual and institutional healthcare clients in both adversarial and transactional matters arising out of their business dealings and contracts.
John is a knowledgeable expert in private insurance reimbursement including post-payment audits, overpayment disputes and litigation, insurance fraud investigations and prosecutions, claims for unpaid benefits, and rate-setting appeals.
As a result of defending providers facing regulatory scrutiny, John has also developed a substantial risk management practice, providing baseline compliance auditing to providers of all types and sizes, and assisting in implementing plans of corrective action, when needed.
John has published numerous articles on healthcare compliance and healthcare reimbursement-related issues, routinely lectures to physicians, residents, and students on medical practice management, is a Fellow and regular contributor to the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management (AAPPM), was named a "Rising Star" in Health Law by New Jersey Monthly in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and a "Super Lawyer" in Health Law in 2016.
John graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. He received numerous achievement awards including the Presidential Merit Scholar from 2001-2004.
