Sarah has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She has been the Department Chair and faculty member of a Health Information Technology program at Texas State Technical College in Abeline, TX for the past 17 years. Prior to this, she worked in hospitals and large physician clinics in various roles.
In her current role, she demonstrates influential leadership qualities that inspire her fellow faculty members. She possesses knowledge and application of student learning methodologies, curriculum development, and instructional skills. She also works closely with local industry continuously seeking to foster new and grow existing partnerships.
Prior to her current role, she gained first-hand knowledge of managing patient health information necessary to provide quality patient care while supporting the confidentiality of patient records. This experience includes coding, billing, staffing, release of information, electronic medical records, and compliance with local and national regulations.
She studied Health Information Administration at the University of Cincinnati and became a Registered Health Information Administrator in 2008. She is also a certified ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer through the American Health Information Management Association.
