Mastering E/M Coding

Level of service documentation deficiencies are a tremendous liability. Medicare and other third-party payers review physician billing profiles. Are you confident that the E/M codes that your physician is giving you are correct? This class will provide the knowledge and tools you need to evaluate whether chart documentation holds up and monitor billing compliance. Participants will receive EM coding grids to aid in accurate level-of-service selection. Students may bring a CPT coding manual (optional).

Class Highlights:

  • Relate accurate code selection to proper reimbursement
  • Test your diagramming skills with sample chart scenarios
  • Step-by-step explanation of documentation guidelines
  • Review examples of chart notes to identify potential problem areas

Effective Denial Management and Rejection Prevention

Did you know that the average cost to rework a claim is $25; or that better performing practices have denial rates below 5%? The AMA reports that 25-30% of healthcare costs in the U.S. are direct transaction costs and inefficiencies associated with the claims management revenue cycle.

  • Review denial tracking steps, protocols to eliminate rejections and methods for denial resolution.
  • Get tools and guidance on how to second-guess denials and recoup dollars rightfully due to the provider.
  • Participants will return to the office equipped to handle inadequate payments, denials, rejections, and other claims management issues.
