Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

Is your practice obtaining a properly executed Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) every time it is needed? Your staff must be properly trained to discuss the ABN form with patients and determine whether they wish to receive the service and pay out of pocket for it (in advance of the service being rendered). If you fail to obtain the ABN, you cannot bill the patient.

Attend this session to understand the correct use of the ABN form and the risks of improper usage. Learn when the ABN is required and when it is optional. Know what to do when a patient refuses to sign an ABN. Understand that improper use or completion of ABNs cost the practice and could potentially trigger an audit or an investigation. Protect your practice and your patients!

Join GeoJan Wright for this detailed review of the proper use of the ABN and get your questions answered!

Content includes:

  • Completion of the ABN form
  • Reasons for use
  • The Practice's responsibility to the patient
  • Patient's rights and responsibility
  • Selecting the correct modifier to indicate an ABN is on file
  • Medicare's requirements and execution of the ABN
  • Common misuses of the ABN
  • ABNs and Medicare Advantage Plans
  • ABNs and commercial carriers
