Is your practice current and compliant with all the HCPCS Level II code set updates? Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Level II codes and descriptors, as established by CMS's Alpha-Numeric Editorial Panel, primarily represent products, supplies and non-physician services not covered in CPT including ambulance services, chemotherapy injections, durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies when used outside a physician's office.

Both government and private health insurers use HCPCS procedure codes and modifiers for claims processing and updates, released annually. Modifications to HCPCS in 2019 include:

  • 228 New codes/modifiers
  • 49 discontinued codes/modifiers
  • 95 revised codes/modifiers
  • 1 code with a coverage changes

About the Presenter

Maxine has more than 30 years of experience in medical practice management, adult education, and general business. She is the former administrator of a multi-specialty clinic and has taught numerous practice management, accounting and business communications courses at various levels at Midwestern State University in Texas. She has extensive experience as a practice consultant and has taught both administrative and clinical personnel.
