Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

Beginning January 1, 2021, providers can choose to determine level of service of an Office/Outpatient visit based on Medical Decision Making or Time.

Join Maxine Collins for an introduction to the new time guidelines for certain E/M services. Learn about what is changing in the rules and what will happen now that CMS has proposed different time thresholds than those published by CPT.

Walk through the new documentation requirements in comparison with the previous guidelines. You will learn how time will be defined for coding purposes in 2021, and exactly when the that definition will apply. Find out what non-face to-face work is to be included in total time and gain details on the time ranges.

Learn when and how to use the new CPT prolonged services code(s) and when to use office and outpatient visit codes without an add-on prolonged care code based on time.

Highlights:

  • Total time – what is included and excluded?
  • Separately provided services on date of E/M encounter
  • Revised reporting rules for prolonged services
  • Utilizing new add-on code for prolonged care based on time
  • Compare reimbursement rates for new and established patients
