Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

In the State of Texas, Insurance Companies are obligated to provide prompt payment to medical providers. They must make a decision and pay a medical claim or request additional information within a specific time period. If this process is not completed within thirty days, Texas State Senate Bill 418 (SB 418) mandates that the Insurance Company must pay in full all short payments plus a penalty (timely payment violation) and interest to the medical provider.

Are you monitoring your claims for compliance with these requirements?

Attend this 90 minute session to learn more about the “Texas Prompt Pay Act” which was instituted in 2003 to protect providers and requires insurance companies to pay late fees if they fail to pay or deny a claim in whole or part within 30 days of the claim being submitted electronically, or 45 days if the claims was submitted in a non-electronic form.

Insurance companies have attempted to dilute timely payment violations and cancel the effect of the Prompt Pay laws. However, recent court rulings have been decided in the providers’ favor. This is good news as the opportunity cost is high and medical providers have lost money, even when the claims were eventually paid in full.

Highlights:

  • Identify short payments
  • Combat and recover contractual underpayments
  • Types of penalties
  • Graduated payments based on timeframe and applicable interest
  • TDI’s tips for ERISA plans

The instructor will also address other Texas laws that may affect insurance carriers and their compliance. If your Texas-based practice is looking to increase revenue and recoup lost profits, sign up today!
