The front desk plays a key role in the success or failure of any medical practice. To be effective, these team members must be equipped with knowledge, processes and technologies that help them accomplish their tasks efficiently. Mastering operational success at the front desk will lead to a smoother workflow and a healthier revenue cycle. Effective operational strategies include hiring, training, workflow analysis, structural process engineering and continual monitoring.

Learn how to analyze your daily processes and identify activities that slow down the workflow within your practice. Understand the impact that inefficiencies have on the overall practice. Explore techniques that will allow the front office staff to accomplish tasks and meet practice goals with minimum effort.

In this session, PMI faculty member GeoJan Wright will highlight the importance of process management and workflow analysis at the front desk. She will identify methods to assist you in optimizing internal workflow that will protect the practice from poor performance and increase patient satisfaction.

About the Presenter

GeoJan has more than 25 years of health care experience in all phases of management, business operations, state and federal regulations. She has worked in billing and collection operations, human resources, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee benefit programs, monthly management reports and reconciliations, daily financial activities, scheduling, OSHA regulations, CLIA regulations, radiology and laboratory operations. She has hands-on experience in all phases of insurance, including worker’s compensation and HMOs. GeoJan has developed programs for physician office training, and founded a local office managers association. She has specialized training in insurance, coding and has worked in collections for two large hospital systems. She has recent experience onboarding physicians and setting up and managing medical practices as the Market Operations Manager. GeoJan’s strong work ethic and organizational and problem-solving skills make her an excellent communicator who believes in fostering teamwork.
