Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

The incorrect use of modifiers remains a top billing error cited by federal, state and private payers. Is your practice suffering negative consequences due to modifier misuse or non-use? Lost revenue, claim rejections and denials, and audit letters are inevitable without proper training. Attend this session to gain confidence when assigning modifiers and avoid potential fraud and abuse allegations. The OIG continues to watch improper use of modifiers.

Modifiers are an essential part of coding and billing that help you tell an accurate story of the patient encounter. This program will expand your knowledge of the role of modifiers in communicating about difficult, increased, separate, reduced, multiple and repeat services. Gain clarity on when it is and is not appropriate to use a modifier, and understand the impact of specific modifiers on payment for the service provided. Learn how to rank a modifier using the three categories and ranking rules when multiple modifier categories are used.

Review examples and master modifier usage in just 60 minutes! Join Jan Hailey for this "Lunch and Learn" program and sharpen your knowledge of CPT guidelines related to modifier usage. Tips will be provided to help decrease rejects or denials that occur due to lack of a modifier.

  • Definition and proper use of modifiers
  • CPT guidelines related to modifier usage
  • Negative impacts of modifiers
  • Impact of modifiers on reimbursement
  • Explanation of HCPCS modifiers
