The 2018 OIG Work Plan: Will it Impact Your Practice?

Date:Tuesday, October 24, 2017
Time:12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Central Time
Presented by: Lisa Maciejewski-West, CMC, CMOM, MCS-P

Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

The OIG (Office of the Inspector General) is charged with the oversight of the Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Each year, on or about October 1, the OIG Annual Work Plan is published. This document outlines areas of concern within the Medicare/Medicaid Program that will be evaluated and investigated for wasteful spending, abuse or fraud. Every health care provider and corporate entity that receives money from the Medicare Trust Fund should carefully review and identify areas in the annual Work Plan that may concern them. This class will roll out the new 2018 Work Plan and provide an instruction and discussion forum for topics of relevance.

The instructor will cover the following areas:

  • Learn about the OIG and the Annual Work Plan. Get an overview of the OIG's function and its relationship with Medicare. General discussion of the work plan, it's content and structure
  • Review the highlights of the Work Plan for Medicare Part A and Part B sections. Instructor will look at items/topics that are carried over from 2017 and items that are new for 2018
  • What if your office is targeted on the Work Plan? Instructor will discuss steps you can take if one or more of the Work Plan topics affect your practice or organization.
