Webinar/Audio Conference FAQs

Every healthcare organization must have a fully engaged and empowered compliance officer. It is imperative for healthcare providers and practice leaders to anticipate and be proactive in protecting the organization. The vast majority of medical practices aim to do the right thing but can be challenging to keep up with ever-changing state and federal standards and guidelines. However, lack of knowledge is not a valid defense when facing a non-compliance charge.

Each practice is unique, so individual consideration is needed when identifying and training your staff to create and maintain a culture of compliance. Areas impacted by compliance include billing/reimbursement, HIPAA and OSHA regulations, OIG (Office of Inspector General), healthcare reform and more.

This 90-minute session will cover hot issues and hidden risks. As our industry continues to transition into value-based care, consider the factors that affect our patients and healthcare. Do you know that more than 40 people die every day from overdoses involving prescription opioids? Active shooter and dangerous intruder situations are unpredictable; you must think beyond your office walls to ensure your patients and employees are protected. Don’t let a natural disaster turn into a patient care disaster.

Join PMI faculty leader Pam Joslin for this discussion of the primary compliance concerns for medical practice leaders. Pam will provide valuable information and resources. After the webinar, use these tools to conduct your own gap analysis to identify where you are. Then develop a plan to work toward where you need to be to effectively address the compliance struggles in your office.

Highlights:

  • Active shooter and gun violence
  • Opioid crisis management
  • Responding to natural disasters
  • Coding and Documentation Accuracy
  • Social Media
  • Data breaches
  • Patient experience as a priority
  • Healthcare reform
  • Social factors that affect our patients
  • OIG Work Plan
