How to Lead Through a Crisis

Healthcare is among the top occupations affected by crises, acts of violence, and safety threats. This cannot be overstated. Employers are responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, but no organization is crisis-proof. Response to threats requires fast decisions and well-planned (and practiced) emergency response protocols.

Every healthcare entity is required to have a well-organized, detailed emergency response plan. It's so much more than an onboarding protocol or book on a shelf. Crisis leadership training involves practiced activities, escape plans and procedures to address or retreat from threats. Heidi Wysocki and Ed Pietrowski are experts that will arm you with the knowledge and skills to create and maintain a crisis response plan in your organization.

Heidi Wysocki, ABCP and Ed Pietrowski

She started her career in Washington, DC, working as a defense contractor supporting the US Navy’s Foreign Military Sales program. From there, she moved into corporate finance roles, working in the pharma industry for more than 10 years in support of global facilities and operations, as well as facility risk management and Business Continuity Management. She is nationally certified in Business Continuity Management by Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII).

Participants in this program will learn the essential skills needed to respond to a crisis event, be prepared to take on a Crisis Leadership role, and to incorporate the principles outlined into the daily organizational culture.

No prerequisites; this program is appropriate for all.

This is not a one-and-done training class. An organization that is attuned to emergency response carries ongoing expectations to protect and enhance safety. Participants will learn the skills needed to take on a Crisis Leadership role and incorporate these principles into daily organizational culture. When you bring safety and peace of mind to your workplace, your employees will thank you for it. Heidi and Ed will walk participants through the following areas:

  • Identify different types of crises (by function or impact)
  • Understand and exercise the 7 characteristics of a successful leader
  • Avoid leadership pitfalls
  • Establish or enhance a resilient organizational culture
  • Enhance or create effective Crisis Communications Plans
