In this session presented by Revenue Cycle Management expert and healthcare consultant, Taya Gordon, learn about updates to the conversion factor and proposed increases in payment for primary care and other kinds of direct patient care. Significant proposed changes include payments for caregiver training services, and for services involving community health workers, care navigators, and peer support specialists - an effort to better recognize costs associated with patient-centered care and to improve equity, inclusion, and access to care for Medicare patients in underserved and low-income communities. CMS is proposing to implement a separate add-on payment for healthcare common procedure coding system (HCPCS) code G2211, which Congress prohibited before January 1, 2024. Additional provisions addressed include:

  • Coding and Payment for Social Determinants of Health risk assessments
  • Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
  • Preventive vaccine administration services under Part B
  • Expansion of eligible clinicians providing Behavioral Health Services
  • Supervision Policy for PTs and OTS in private practice
  • Payment for Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) Services
  • Pausing efforts to implement the AUC for Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Program
  • Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment
  • Drugs and Biologicals Payable Under Medicare Part B
  • Payment for certain dental services linked to other covered services used to treat cancer
  • Updates to Electronic Prescribing for Controlled Substances (EPCS)
  • Medicare Shared Savings Program-related proposals
